Community members and tourists gathered this past Friday at the Sandusky Famers’ Market to experience this seasons first available harvest at the Jackson Street Parking Lot. The many faces and available goods were captured by The Erie Wire’s photographer, Jenna Martin, to be viewed in a Picassa Slideshow. Take a look at a colorful side of Sandusky culture, and the warm embrace of fresh local goods. (click on any image to view slideshow)

The way I feel about having two Farmers’ Markets is that it’s like a covered dish party, and the more the merrier. My dad used to say, Some people come to the party bringing pies and some come with just their forks. I don’t like the dissension around what’s really a good thing for all. If the rope burns your hand, it’s time to let go and let be.

Hi Josh & Lauren: I think the farm market is great, and I love the name, hope you keep it.

I’ll be down there this Friday to pick up some fresh vegies and fruit. See you soon, Rose

    Hi Josh and Lauren,

It would not matter to me …how the Friday MKT. is named. Simply put, the afternoon is better for me and I will attend. You are both fresh and young and really should not be bothered with this ‘old Sandusky fight-rhetoric.’ If I were you, I would want to be defined away from this and would come up with my own name to make the point. Such as : Erie Fresh Farmers Market or Fresh Farmers Market or Fresh and Fun Farmers Market ( perhaps adding other types of vendors). I hope there is a solution to avoid this bickering. After all, it’s not healthy !!

Best to you both, Darlene Armour
